Membership Recruitment
Joining Kappa Delta Sigma is unlike joining any other group or club. Our members lead with their hearts, heads, and hands, as they carve their own paths in the world around them. No, we're not a national sorority, but our network of sisters (at the collegiate level and beyond) share a unique and esteemed connection unparalleled in the panhellenic world. At KDS you’ll find an everlasting network of loyal women who shared the same traditions, walked the same halls, and supported each other unwaveringly along the way.

In Kappa Delta Sigma, you’ll grow as an individual, make lifelong connections, and create memories that you’ll carry with you for a lifetime. Whether you’re looking for leadership opportunities, academic support, or a supportive community, KDS is here to help you thrive.

Primary Recruitment
Primary Recruitment, also known as Formal Recruitment, is a structured process that typically takes place at the beginning of the fall or spring term, depending on your campus. It’s an exciting opportunity for potential new members (PNMs) to meet representatives from all the sororities in your college’s Panhellenic community, including Kappa Delta Sigma.

During this process, you’ll attend a series of events designed to introduce you to the values, sisterhood, and opportunities each sorority offers. Each round becomes more focused as you build connections and discover which organization feels like the best fit for you. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to ask questions about things like time commitments, finances, events, and more.

Primary Recruitment culminates in Bid Day, when invitations to join a chapter are sent out and where the journey in a supportive and empowering sisterhood begins. It’s an unforgettable experience that opens the door to a lifetime of connection, growth, and opportunity.

Continuous Open Bidding
Continuous Open Bidding, or COB, is a more relaxed and informal recruitment process that happens outside of Primary Recruitment.
It’s an opportunity for women to join a sorority like Kappa Delta Sigma at times when chapters are looking to welcome new members.

Unlike the structured format of Primary Recruitment, COB allows you to connect with chapter members in a more casual setting. Events might include coffee dates, small gatherings, or chapter-hosted activities where you can get to know KDS members and learn about what makes our sisterhood special.

COB is an excellent option if you missed Primary Recruitment or are looking for a more flexible way to explore sorority life. It’s all about finding the right fit in an approachable and personalized way.

Our Story
In February of 1969 a new local sorority was founded on the campus of St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Since then, Kappa Delta Sigma has continued to be grounded in the principles of faith in friendship, concern for human dignity, and respect for the individual. The sisters have maintained a high academic standing, have been leaders in all aspects of the St. Lawrence experience and have initiated many philanthropic projects while enjoying the closeness of their sisterhood. There are now over 1,200 KDS Alumnae. They have served the University in significant ways including student mentoring, admissions, fundraising, Alumni Executive Council, and the Board of Trustees.
Why KDS?
Did you know sorority women are 3x more likely to obtain an internship and 2x as likely to have a job upon graduation, than women who don't join sororities? The Kappa Delta Sigma network is strong within the overarching St. Lawrence University Alumni community, and we can help you round out your resume and foster your personal and professional growth.
